Sexual harassment reinforces gender hierarchies. The United State Supreme Court ruled that men are capable of sexually harassing other men, and women are capable of sexually harassing other women. A heterosexual man/woman can sexually harass another heterosexual man/woman. A homosexual man/woman can sexually harass a heterosexual man/woman.
Therefore the sexual orientation of either party should not be an issue when the employer investigates a complaint of sexual harassment. In fact, the parties do not even need to be sexually interested in each other for sexual harassment to occur. The key ingredients that constitute sexual harassment is some form of sexual content and some form of discrimination occurring in the workplace.
Harassment means discrimination! Employees need to understand that sexual harassment is really sexual discrimination under the law. Therefore in order for sexual harassment to take place you must have sexual content and discrimination taking place against you.
Sexual discrimination occurs when sexual content leads to an unfair treatment of the employee due to their sex. For example, a male employee is passed over for promotion because his male supervisor hopes to start dating the less qualified female employee. In this example, the male coworker is treated unfairly due to his sex and the situation involves sexual content.

Men and women has a different perception about sexual harrasment. Women highly interprate some of the actions as sexual harrasment. For men, they faced a difficulty in differentiate whether the action happened or done are sexual harassment or not. May be there are misinterpretation toward the action. Some time, one side feels it as a joke but the other party feels it a sexual harassment.

correct me if i'm wrong.. if i'm not mistaken, heterosexuality consists of desire for the opposite sex, e.g: man attracted to woman.. same sex attraction between men we called it as homosexual right?

but, sexual harassment is a very rare, small case. news about it is seldom heard and known. sometimes, when 2 people with same gender are close, its not that they're facing or attracted to the same gender. it's just sometimes they are so close n just really comfortable to hanging out together. but still, sometimes, their action can lead to misinterpretation by others. and can make people around feel uncomfortable about it.
ReplyDeleteNow days if we look at the trend there is so many guys or become homosexual.So this can lead to sexual harassment among the guys.So its not possible if this happend to the guys.But as a good employers they should give a words to their staff who behave like this so that would not lead to sexual harassment among the guys at the work place.I think so far sexual harassment among the guys at the workplace seldom happend or maybe nobody made any report or complaint compared to what have been report by the women before .

Yes heterosexual is a desire to oposites sex.What im trying to discuss is homosexual that can lead to sexual harassment with same gender or towards men not heterosexual.
